On Thursday 2nd May, as we eventually started planting onion sets in the maincrop field (see later blog entry), we spotted the first few potato plants sprouting out of their ridges. The ground has been cold this year and plants have taken their time to stick their leaves out of the earth. New potatoes will come later than the last two years, but with the recent warm weather we are still hoping for lovely Maris Peer earlies in June.
